Dr. Gian S. Pagnucci is Distinguished University Professor and Chair of the Department of English at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He has served as Chair for 12 years and is also Co-Chair of IUP’s Council of Chairs and IUP’s Academic Computing Policy and Advisory Committee. Dr. Pagnucci teaches in the English Department’s Graduate Studies in Composition and Applied Linguistics Doctoral Program.
Dr. Pagnucci has an extensive list of scholarly publications, including the books Enter the Superheroes: American Values, Culture, and the Canon of Superhero Literature and Living the Narrative Life: Stories as a Tool for Meaning Making. He has also published about strategies for success for new academic chairs in The Department Chair. Dr. Pagnucci has also presented at all the major English conferences, including multiple times at the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) and the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Annual Convention. He has also been a featured presenter multiple times at the national Academic Chairpersons Conference and been a keynote presenter for a number of other conferences.
Dr. Pagnucci’s service includes being President of the Pennsylvania College English Association (PCEA) and Vice-President of the Indiana Free Library Board of Directors.
